UNODC'S GRACE INITIATIVE: EMPOWERING YOUTH IN THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION – CALL TO PARTICIPATE IN REGIONAL CONSULTATIONS |
DEADLINE: 27 July 2025 — The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has been at the forefront of global anti-corruption efforts, and its Global Resource for Anti-Corruption Education and Youth Empowerment (GRACE) initiative is a testament to this commitment. GRACE aims to meaningfully engage young people in the fight against corruption, recognizing their potential as powerful agents of change.
A cornerstone of the GRACE initiative is the YouthLED Integrity Advisory Board. This dynamic group of young leaders is dedicated to amplifying the voices of youth in anti-corruption dialogues and actions. The Board has initiated a series of regional consultations with young people from diverse parts of the world. These consultations aim to gain a deeper understanding of how corruption impacts youth and to gather insights on how young people believe they can contribute more effectively to preventing and combating corruption.
During these consultations, YouthLED Integrity Advisory Board members will engage with their peers from their regions, listening to their experiences and ideas. The aim is for the findings of these consultations to feed into White Papers, per region, which will then be compiled and presented at the eleventh session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption, which will be held in December 2025, in Doha, Qatar. By engaging directly with young people, UNODC and its YouthLED Integrity Board ensures that the strategies and initiatives developed are not only relevant but also resonate with the youth they aim to serve.
The efforts of the YouthLED Integrity Advisory Board are crucial in building a global movement of young anti-corruption champions. Their work highlights the importance of youth participation in governance and the need for inclusive platforms where young voices can be heard and acted upon. Through the GRACE initiative, UNODC is not only addressing the immediate challenges posed by corruption but also investing in the future leaders who will continue this vital work.
UNODC's GRACE initiative and the proactive efforts of the YouthLED Integrity Advisory Board are paving the way for a more transparent and accountable world. By empowering young people and integrating their perspectives into anti-corruption work, UNODC is fostering a new generation of leaders committed to integrity and justice.
