ARTS & CREATIVITY AS CATALYST FORCES FOR CHANGE |
DEADLINE: 12 November 2023 — The Global Resource for Anti-Corruption Education and Youth Empowerment (GRACE) initiative aims at empowering youth to learn about and actively promote the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). Youth play a fundamental role in creating a culture of rejection of corruption in all its forms.
Countering corruption is not the responsibility of governments and law enforcement agencies alone. It is more and more recognized that there needs to be a whole-of-society approach to bring about a lasting behavioral change. Young people can be dynamic promoters of a culture of integrity and rejection of corruption.
In the margins of the 10th Session of the Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) to the UNCAC, UNODC and the Government of the United States of America are joining forces to organize the "Young Changemakers Event", which will take place on 10 December 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia (USA).
During this event, and throughout the entire Conference, UNODC aims to showcase art from youth on how they see corruption and its impact on them. The objective being to give young people’s creativity a center stage and an avenue to influence policy makers and members of the international community to better understand how youth is impacted by corruption.
UNODC is therefore inviting youth, under 30, to submit their virtual/digital artwork to its global call for submissions to give the opportunity to every member of society to tell us in creative ways what corruption means for them. Note that all young people with disabilities, and children younger than 18 years old, can submit their artistic content through the medium of supporting/sponsoring entities.
If you believe in the transformative power of arts and creativity across borders and would like to be given the chance to have your piece showcased at the largest global anti-corruption policymaking conference of the world, then look no further!
Please submit any piece of art you would like us to consider. We particularly welcome digital art pieces, such as performance art, videos, short-films (max 5 min.), sound and photos. Nonetheless, drawings, paintings (both digital and analog), comics, poems, spoken words, songs and anything else that we might not have thought of will also be considered. Even if the form is in English, you are welcome to include the description and submission in your own language.
Please note that only a few submissions will be selected and will be showcased by UNODC at this year’s CoSP and on our website.
Kindly understand that UNODC is not in a position to sponsor any flights for the owners/producers of the selected art to join the Conference in-person but will only showcase the selected art content in Atlanta giving credit to everyone who contributed to its making.
Please use one of the two registration forms below to take part - DEADLINE: 19 November 2023 - GOOD LUCK!
